No doubt, Trekking is a perfect way to explore and gain an amazing experience of a lifetime. By trekking in Uttarakhand, one can indeed enjoy the unique & wonderful landscapes and have a full insight of Uttarakhand culture. There are several recommended trekking routes accessible to all levels of experience and skills. One such trek is "Har Ki Doon Trek". This is one of the oldest treks in India that offers an amphitheater-like view of the Himalayas, dominated by Mt. Swargarohini. Har ki Doon also known as "Valley of Gods" is the only place from where you can witness the view of Swargarohini, Blackpeak and Bandarpoonch, all together.

Trekking Routes: Dehradun - Taluka - Osla - Har Ki Doon

Har ki Doon is an ascending climb for 14 km from Osla. It is situated at the foothills of Swargrohini Peak and bestows its trekkers some amazing scenic views of nature.
The hanging valley of gods is a treat for trekkers. Har ki Doon, situated at an elevation of 3566 mts. is surrounded by glittering peaks and dense forests. The forests are rich in wildlife and are a veritable paradise for bird-watchers and nature lovers.
This is a good trek for all age groups and the valley is full of flora and fauna.

Day Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Rishikesh – Sankari 1900 m/6232 ft) (215 kms/ 7-8 hrs.)

    After breakfast drive to Sankari by cab, a small hamlet nestled in the laps of nature via Mussoorie, Kempty falls, Purola and Mori. This is the starting point of our trek.

    Overnight stay in tents/ tourist rest house
  • Day 2
    Sankari - Taluka (2560 m / 8400 ft) (9 kms)

    The day starts with the gentle trail towards Taluka. Today's trek is through beautiful forests of Chestnut, Walnut and Willows. A gradual ascent brings us to the picturesque Osla village along the swift rivulet.

    On arrival set campsite for an overnight stay.
  • Day 3
    Taluka - Osla - (3566 m / 11700 ft) (12 kms trek Morning after breakfast trek to Osla.

    Initially, the trek goes past some fields of beans & rice and also some isolated villages, where the lifestyle is same as old, and the untouched one. The dress worn by the people is traditional. Their cheerfulness and innocence combined with their simple way of life make them very appealing.

    A common scene in the evenings is that of ruddy-cheeked village belles returning home, carrying on their backs huge loads of pine needles & cones to be used as fuel. The trail steadily ascends the side of the ridge across the river and then veers left to the Har Ki Doon valley.

    Dense forests in this part give way to the meadows that are scattered with flowers and flowering herbs. Dinner and Overnight stay in tents.
  • Day 4
    Osla - Har-Ki Doon (8 kms trek)

    The day is for rest/acclimatization/exploration. On this day everyone does his own thing. One can go on an exploratory trek in the valley, capture some magnificent views on the camera, or just chill at the campsite.

  • Day 5
    Har Ki Doon – Osla (8 kms/4-5 hrs)

    Today we will trek 14 km to reach Debshu Bughyal. It will take 4-5 hrs at leisure pace as the trail is generally downhill. Overnight in tents.
  • Day 6
    Osla - Taluka -11 kms trek
  • :-
    After having breakfast, trekking starts back toswards taluka (11 km). Dinner and overnight stay at Camps.
  • Day 7
    Taluka – Sankari 9 kms trek
  • :-
    We start trek of about 9 km to reach Sankari after having early breakfast. This will take up to 3-4 hours.
  • Day 8
    Sankari – Rishikesh 210 kms
  • :-
    After having breakfast, drive back to Rishikesh with wonderful memories and unforgettable experiences.
  • NOTE:
    We can take a maximum of 14 people on any of our trips and a minimum 4 people. Trips for individuals or groups of 2 people can be arranged at extra cost.

    We will transport all your belongings for you so that you only have to carry your daypack with camera, water bottle and jacket.

    We serve three meals a day plus snacks and drinks. We provide a variety of tasty healthy food including Indian, Chinese and Western meals with lots of vegetables and fruit.

Cost Include

• 2 guides for the group of maximum 14 trekkers so 1 guide for 7 group members. This will ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek. All our guides are professionally trained and have many years of relevant experience in guiding treks.
• Accommodation (hotel or Guest house or home stay or camping).
• Good quality camping arrangements.
We believe that roughing it out necessarily doesn’t mean sleeping in smelly sleeping bags, compromising on safety by using low-quality equipment and having unappetizing meals. We focus on your safety, basic comforts and the environment while camping. Keeping this in mind, the following equipment is provided on the trek. • 3/4 season imported alpine tents, sleeping bag, mattresses, Hot water bottles in the night (during the trek), Camping stools, Mess Tent, Toilet tents.
• All meals starting from dinner on Day 1 till breakfast on last day. A lot of emphases is given to nutritional needs and a menu of vegetarian dishes is prepared accordingly. Tea/coffee will be served throughout.
• Porter/mule charges for carrying camping equipment & rations.
• Forest entry charges, permits & camping fee (if any).
• First aid kit (our guides are certified in handling first aid situations).
