Day Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Drive Rishikesh to Joshimath (1560m) 8-9 hrs
  • :-
    The drive takes one into the rugged country of the Garhwal along the Alaknanda river. Going past a few holy confluences and the road keeps ascending to the small township of Joshimath, which is the base for the Indian Army and the Indian Tibet Border police for this area.
  • Day 2
    Joshimath - Tali (3310m) 5-6 hrs

    Drive to Auli, ski slopes of Auli (2750m). From Auli one gets to see a distinct profile of Nanda Devi at the head of the sanctuary.

    The walk takes one through the forests of oak and rhododendron to reach meadows of Gorson. From here the trail descends steepily down to the forest and we camp by a small water body at Tali. Overnight Camp.
  • Day 3
    Tali to Khulara (3395m) via the Kuari Pass 5-6 hrs

    Today the trail ascends the ridge above Tali and cairns marks our track.

    Just below the pass, the trail leads through a large meadow affording spectacular views of the Himalayas. North of Joshimath is the Chaukhamba range, Nilkanth (6596m) and Narayan Parbat (5965m), while Mana peak (7272m),Kamet (7756m) and Abi Gamin (7355m) extend to the Tibetan border.

    In the middle foreground, the main Himalayan chain in the vicinity of the Bhyundar valley and Hem Kund includes Nilgiri Parbat (6474m), Rataban (6166m), Ghori Parbat (6708m) and Hathi Parbat (6727m). Dunagairi (7066m) dominates the peaks to the north of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary.

    The Kuari pass (3840m) is by no means demanding – we have our lunch here and then descent an hour to the base camp at Khulara.
  • Day 4
    Fully snow trek and snow climb.

    Wake up early to be up on the summit to see the sunrise on wide Himalayan panorama. Loads of photo opportunity ! The walk up to the summit would take a couple of hours and we descend to be in time for hot lunch at base camp.
  • Day 5
    Khulara – Tapovan (1905m) 4-5 hrs and drive to Joshimat (1890m)

    The last day of the climb is all the way down to the Tapovan. It’s about 3/4 hours trek and then 1 hours drive from here to the comforts of the hotel in Joshimath.

• 2 guides for the group of maximum 14 trekkers so 1 guide for 7 group members. This will ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek. All our guides are professionally trained and have many years of relevant experience in guiding treks.
• Accommodation (hotel or Guest house or home stay or camping).
• Good quality camping arrangements.
we believe that roughing it out necessarily doesn’t mean sleeping in smelly sleeping bags, compromising on safety by using low quality equipment and having unappetizing meals. We focus on your safety, basic comforts and the environment while camping. Keeping this is mind, the following equipment is provided on the trek.
• 3/4 season imported alpine tents ,sleeping bag , mattresses , Hot water bottles in the night (during the trek), Camping stools, Mess Tent, Toilet tents.
• All meals starting from dinner on Day 1 till breakfast on last day. A lot of emphasis is given to nutritional needs and a menu of vegetarian dishes is prepared accordingly. Tea/coffee will be served throughout.
• Porter/mule charges for carrying camping equipment & rations.
• Forest entry charges, permits & camping fee (if any).
• First aid kit (our guides are certified in handling first aid situations).
