Duration: 12 days Maximum elevation: 3,300 meters Starting point: Mcleodganj, Himachal Pradesh Trail: Well defined rocky path through the Pine, Oak and Rhododendron forests. Difficulty level: Easy To Challenging Kareri Lake is situated in Himachal. It’s an easier trek for everyone. It is frequented mostly by Gujjars and Gaddis from the nearby villages because of extensive pasturelands. Clusters of dense conifers and different kinds of perennial flowers are a rare treat offered by this place.

Day Itinerary

    Arrive Delhi

    Upon arrival at Delhi airport transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
  • Day 2
    Delhi – Mcleodganj (2196 mts/7,200 ft)

    In the morning half day city sight seeing tour and afternoon transfer to Delhi railway station to board Shalimar express train at 15:55 hours. Dinner in pantry car.Overnight journey.
  • Day 3
    Arrive Mcleodganj
  • :-
    Early morning arrive at Mcleodganj by 03:30 hours. Enroute washes & change followed by breakfast, afternoon time at leisure to relax, evening a brief on the entire program and distribution of equipments. Dinner & overnight in hotel.
  • Day 4
    Mcleodganj – Kareri village (2200 mts/7216 ft) 14 kms/5 hrs

    Today we will start our day one trek to Kareri village. The trek goes through the pine forests and cross several villages on the way. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
  • Day 5
    Kareri – Kareri Lake (3500 mts/11480 ft) 14 kms/ 5 -6 hrs

    Trial goes through mixed forests of oak, rhododendron and pine. First 2 km is a level walk an then there is steep ascent along Kareri Nallah (stream) which has to be crossed over a number of times over improvised wooden bridges. Night stay in tents at bank of Kareri Lake. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
  • Day 6
    Kareri Lake – Bagga (2500 mts/8200 ft) 10 kms/ 5 hrs

    After a short ascent from the lake is a steep descent through the forest to Bagga. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
  • Day 7
    Bagga – Rewa village (2100 mts/6880 ft) 10 kms/4 hrs

    The trial goes down hill through the forest. Rewa village is situated on the bank of a small river. Dinner and overnight stay in a village.
  • Day 8
    Rewa – Galu temple (2130 mts/6987 ft) 14 km/5 hrs

    It is a steep ascent through the forest to Galu temple. Dinner & overnight stay in rest house.
  • Day 9
    Galu Temple – Truind (2843 mts/9326 ft) – 7 km

    In the morning trek to Truind. It’s the ideal place for camping. Overnight stay in tents/rest house.
  • Day 10
    Truind – Mcleodganj – 10 km
  • :-
    After breakfast trek towards Mcleodganj passing through Dhramkot. The trail to Mcleodganj is generally gentle except last few kms. Dinner & overnight in guest house.
  • Day 11
    Mcleodganj – Delhi
  • :-
    Today we will take half day sight seeing and by evening transfer to railway station to catch overnight train for Delhi.
  • Day 12
    Delhi
  • :-
    Arrive New Delhi railway station at 09:30 hours. Upon arrival at Delhi transfer to hotel and relax. Evening transfer to airport to catch your onwards flight.

• 2 guides for the group of maximum 14 trekkers so 1 guide for 7 group members. This will ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek. All our guides are professionally trained and have many years of relevant experience in guiding treks.

we believe that roughing it out necessarily doesn’t mean sleeping in smelly sleeping bags, compromising on safety by using low quality equipment and having unappetizing meals. We focus on your safety, basic comforts and the environment while camping. Keeping this is mind, the following equipment is provided on the trek.
• 3/4 season imported alpine tents ,sleeping bag , mattresses , Hot water bottles in the night (during the trek), Camping stools, Mess Tent, Toilet tents.
• All meals starting from dinner on Day 1 till breakfast on last day. A lot of emphasis is given to nutritional needs and a menu of vegetarian dishes is prepared accordingly. Tea/coffee will be served throughout.
• Porter/mule charges for carrying camping equipment & rations.
• Forest entry charges, permits & camping fee (if any).
• First aid kit (our guides are certified in handling first aid situations).
